Christopher J. Nassetta, the company's president and CEO, has signed six additional franchise agreements with METRO Hotels to open additional properties in popular tourist destinations over the next five years.

Two hotels are now being built and are slated to open in 2013. In Barranquilla and Cartagena, they are both Hampton by Hilton properties. There will be 125 rooms in Barranquilla and 132 rooms in Cartagena. The four additional new hotels' locations are yet to be revealed.

In a company news release, the anticipated development cost of the six hotels was also not provided. Analysts in the hospitality industry, on the other hand, predict that the building cost alone will be in the millions.

Hilton's vice president of development for South America, Cristiano Gonçalves, views "Hilton Worldwide sees Colombia as a key strategic development market. The inclusion of these new sites demonstrates the amazing momentum behind our region-wide multi-brand expansion strategy."

METRO Hotels' Development Director, Felipe Galeano, stated that his company is "convinced of the Hampton product's tremendous potential in Colombia's major and intermediate cities. For the Colombian business traveler, we believe it provides the ideal degree of luxury, service, security, and cost efficiency."

According to Phil Cordell, who is in charge of Hilton's global focused service and Hampton brand management, "For budget-conscious business and leisure travelers, Hampton by Hilton is an excellent choice. We are excited to introduce Hampton's unrivaled customer care and unsurpassed quality to this burgeoning country."

"We stand behind the brand with a 100 percent Satisfaction Guarantee," he says, "and we don't expect guests to pay if they aren't delighted with their stay."

The 125-room Hampton by Hilton Barranquilla will be part of a mixed-use development in the center of Barranquilla's commercial district. The 132-room Hampton by Hilton Cartagena will be located near the Convention Center and the Old City in the Bocagrande neighborhood. In Latin America, Hampton Hotels now has 16 locations and wants to extend its footprint throughout the continent.

The Hampton by Hilton brand's trademark amenities will be available at both hotels, including a trendy Perfect Mix lobby, free Wi-Fi throughout, and the Jump Start fitness center.

According to a press statement from Hilton, the new hotels are "planned and styled to appeal to both business and leisure tourists," and will "provide best-in-class service and comfort." The free On the House hot breakfast, a 24-hour snack space, and a bar area with nighttime dining options are all available to assist guests interact after meetings.

In Latin America, Hilton Worldwide now maintains a portfolio of 50 hotels and resorts, three of which are in Colombia. Hilton Bogota, Hilton Cartagena, and Embassy Suites by Hilton Bogota - Rosales are the three hotels.

The company is "actively pursuing more Latin American growth prospects with a solid development pipeline" that includes sites in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, and Peru, according to the news release.
